Nominees for Japan's Media Arts Festival Announced (Updated)

The Japanese government's Ministry of Cultural Affairs has announced the works nominated by the general public for Open Form, its 11th Annual Media Arts Festival.

Animation Category

• Toward the Terra… (Osamu Yamasaki)
• Dennō Coil (Mitsuo Iso)
• Red Garden (Kou Matsuo)
• Lost Utopia (Mirai Mizue)
• Darker than Black (Tensai Okamura)

Manga Category

• Sore de mo Machi wa Mawatteiru (Masakazu Ishiguro)
• Kayo-chan no Nimotsu (Sumako Kari)
• Aria (Kozue Amano)
• Yasashii C++ Part 2 (Takahiro Yonemura)
• Chimuchimu Parade (Shiho Suzuki)

Five works were nominated in the Art Category, and the Nintendo Wii game console and the Touhou Project scrolling shooter game franchise were among the five nominated works in the Entertainment Category. The open nomination process was held from June 29 to September 10 of this year, and the National Art Center in Tokyo will exhibit the nominated works on February 6-17, 2008.
