Zoku Natsume Yūjin-Chō ghost story sequel to go online within 1 hour of airing

The Crunchyroll video-streaming website has announced that it will post both anime adaptations of Yuki Midorikawa's Natsume Yūjin-Chō shōjo ghost-story manga this month. This includes the Zoku Natsume Yūjin-Chō television sequel series, which will premiere in Japan on Monday and then go online on Crunchyroll within one hour of its Japanese broadcast. According to Crunchyroll's press release, this early access to Zoku Natsume Yūjin-Chō episodes will be available to Crunchyroll Anime Membership subscribers.

The story revolves around Natsume, a boy who has been able to see ghosts since he was little. Unfortunately, humans shun him, and there is not much fondness between him and ghosts either. One day, he inherits a Yūjin-Chō ("Book of Friends") from his grandmother. The book is actually full of contracts that his grandmother made to trap ghosts. As one ghost after another shows up, Natsume tries to release or help them — even while many of them seek vengeance on him. The new season will showcase more characters from the manga such as Kuro-Nyanko-sensei, Gen, and Tama-chan.

Zoku Natsume Yūjin-Chō will be the sixth series that will run nearly simultaneously on both the TV Tokyo station in Japan and on Crunchyroll. BB Watch revealed in November that TV Tokyo will distribute five anime series worldwide on the same day that they broadcast in Japan. The five other simulcasted titles that Crunchyroll already announced from TV Tokyo are the Naruto Shippūden, Gintama, Skip Beat!, Shugo Chara!, and Web Ghost PiPoPa (Net Ghost PiPoPa) television anime series.
