Viz Media editor Nancy Thistlethwaite clarified some details regarding the company's ongoing publication of Mayu Shinjo's Ai Ore! manga. Viz Media licensed the original run of Ai Ore!, which was originally serialized under the full title of Ai o Utau yori Ore ni Oborero! in Shogakukan's Shōjo Comic (now Sho-Comi) magazine in Japan. Viz also licensed the follow-up series, Ai-Ore! Danshikō no Hime to Joshikō no Ōji, which was serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Asuka magazine.

Both series are being collected together by Viz under the Ai Ore! title, with the first run being collected in the first three Viz books (which contain around 300 pages each) and the second run collected in the last five books (around 200 pages each).

The manga centers around two teenagers: Mizuki, the female “prince” of her all-girls school and the lead guitarist in an all-girl rock band, and Akira, the male “princess” of his all-boys school. Akira want to join Mizuki's band Blaue Rosen when the band's lead singer moves overseas, but first he has to overcome Mizuki's suspicious misgivings.

This past July, Shinjo announced that a live-action film version of Ai Ore! had been green-lit. The film is slated for release in Japan at the end of the year. Viz also publishes Shinjo's Sensual Phrase manga.
