Original Godzilla Actor Akira Takarada Goes to Remake's Set

On Thursday, the official Facebook page for Gareth Edward's Godzilla film remake posted a photo of actor Akira Takarada on the film set. Takarada is a veteran of the Japanese Godzilla films, having appeared in original 1954 film as Hideto Ogata, as well as the sequels Mothra vs. Godzilla, Invasion of Astro-Monster, and Godzilla Versus the Sea Monster. His last Godzilla film was Godzilla: Final Wars in 2004.
The post does not reveal Takarada's exact involvement in the project. The film is now shooting principal photography in Canada and is scheduled to open in theaters on May 16, 2014.
