The Association of Copyright for Computer Software is reporting that Fukuoka Prefecture Police arrested a 27-year-old unemployed male Kaga City resident on Wednesday on suspicion of using the file-sharing software Share to upload the 37th volume of the Berserk manga without permission. According to the arrest report, the suspect uploaded the manga on April 28. In addition to the manga, the suspect is accused of uploading "Thumb Rise Again" and 28 other music files on June 23. The suspect allegedly admitted to the charges and said that he had been using file-sharing software for about a decade.

In a separate matter, Miyagi Prefecture Police also arrested a 44-year-old male office worker from the prefecture's Shiogama City on Wednesday, on suspicion of using the file-sharing software Share to upload manga without permission. Specifically, he is accused of uploading the second K-ON! volume, Tennen Joshi-kō Monogatari, Jo-Kura no Okite, Kanban Musume wa Sashiosae, and the first Working!! volume on May 5. The police searched the suspect's home and confiscated his personal computer and other property. The suspect allegedly admitted to the charges, saying that he thought it was bad to just download, so he also uploaded.

Security researchers have known about flaws in Share's anonymity features since 2006.
