Akame ga KILL! ended in December, inspired 2014 TV anime

The sixth compiled book volume (seen below left) of Kei Toru's Akame ga KILL! ZERO prequel manga revealed on Wednesday that manga creator Takahiro is launching a new manga tentatively titled HINOWA ga YUKU! (Hinowa Conquers!) in Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan magazine on June 24, with strelka providing the art. The preview image shows a character resembling Akame from Akame ga KILL! alongside new characters, but the announcement does not explicitly state that the new manga is a sequel or is set in the same world.

The text in the announcement image reads "Unify the chaotic world of rivaling warlords!"

Takahiro and Tetsuya Tashiro ended their Akame ga KILL! manga in December. The manga launched in 2010 in Square Enix's Monthly Gangan Joker magazine. Square Enix published the manga's 15th and final compiled book volume on Wednesday.

The dark fantasy action manga centers on Tatsumi, a young warrior who travels to the Imperial capital to join the military, and instead finds a world of corruption, decay, and brutality. Tatsumi encounters Night Raid, an assassin group that supports the efforts of a growing underground revolution, joining their ranks after they reveal the true nature of the Imperial nobility to him. Among Night Raid's number is Akame, a reticent swordswoman who has a past as an imperial assassin.

The Akame ga KILL! ZERO prequel focuses on Akame's former life as a professional assassin in Imperial employ. The manga announced in June 2015 that the prequel is also "approaching its climax."

The series, including the Akame ga KILL! ZERO spinoff, has 3,300,000 copies in print as of last August. Yen Press publishes both manga in North America.

Akame ga KILL! inspired a TV anime, which premiered in Japan in July 2014. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan, and Sentai Filmworks licensed and released the series on Blu-ray Disc and DVD home video. The anime began airing on Adult Swim's Toonami block starting in August 2015.
