New version to expand on PC release

Sony Music Entertainment's indie game publishing label Unties Games announced on Monday that it will release Cherrymochi's Tokyo Dark psychological horror game for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch this winter. The port will be a director's cut titled Tokyo Dark -Remembrance-, and it will feature new story chapters.

In the game, Detective Itō journeys through Tokyo's underworld, collecting clues and solving puzzles to search for her missing partner. Players' decisions affect Itō's characteristics and options, and the S.P.I.N (Sanity, Professionalism, Investigation, Neurosis) system tracks decisions. The game has 11 possible endings.

Cherrymochi submitted the game to Square Enix Collective in January 2015, and it was later green-lit for release on Steam. The developers held a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for the release from May to June 2015. The campaign raised more than five times the funding goal. The game launched on Steam on September 7, 2017.

Cherrymochi describes itself as "an independent game studio that aims to bridge Japanese and Western game design." The company is based near Tokyo, and the staff members are from five countries. The developer is "inspired by Japanese pop culture, anime aesthetic and Western adventure games."
